We are so pleased to be holding our traditional Grandparents’ Day again this year. It continues to be a highlight in our school calendar.  Grandparents’ Day provides students with a wonderful opportunity to showcase their school community and to share their learning environment with their grandparents and family members. We find grandparents reminiscing and reflecting on their own primary school days too, some of whom are past students themselves.

With our new and refurbished rooms now in use and our outside works nearing completion, there will be a lot of changes to see.

Information regarding the day’s schedule and associated information is as contained on this poster.

Well, it’s almost here. St John’s Whole School MusicalMadagascar Jnr.  Thursday 27th October is the big day, and it certainly will be a full day with a dress rehearsal during the day followed by two shows in the evening. With props and costumes almost complete the excitement is certainly building.

Two shows will be held at the Cardinia Cultural Centre on Thursday the 27th October, the first at
6pm and the second at 8:30pm, with staff and students having a short break in between shows.

See Operoo and the School Newsletter to keep updated on specific details as to how this day will unfold for students and their families.

Thursday 15th September we’ll be having our annual Footy Day at school. The staff and students are invited to dress in their team colors, participate in a parade of AFL Teams and any other Leagues represented, and will certainly enjoy the announcement of this year’s most popular team.

The Bookweek Theme for 2022 is DREAMING WITH EYES OPEN.

St John’s have a very exciting Bookweek planned, commencing with a visit from renowned children’s author, Adam Wallace on Monday 29th August.  Adam aims to entertain and inspire children with his stories and illustrations and we’re sure this will be a memorable visit for our students.

During the week our Juniors will enjoy a Teddy Bear Picnic and join the older students for a Reading Line where books are shared and read together.

On Thursday 1st September our Bookweek Dress-up Day will be held and students will participate in a Parade and various Book Week Activities.

These Bookweek activities are only part of a busy week of events including a visit to Grades 5/6 by Jason Wood MP, Senior District Sports, Father’s Day Breakfast on Friday followed by Multi-age family Maths games – 9-11am and Winter sport for the seniors in the afternoon.

The first phase of new building and refurbishment project is almost complete. These new facilities, highly anticipated by all, include four large classrooms, open leaning spaces, a library, office spaces and an indoor toilet block.

We trust these rooms will be in use shortly and following this, the removal of the temporary classrooms and toilets, will allow for the final outdoor part of the project to commence, the construction and landscaping of the outdoor learning spaces and the development of a school entrance highlighting our faith and cultural connectivity.

We are grateful for the patience and flexibility shown by families, staff and students who have faced the challenges and inconveniences to parking, play areas and work spaces, during past months.

The whole school community will benefit in many ways and the pride in our school will grow even further.
