Today, 24th June, we celebrated the Patron Saint of our school, St John the Baptist.

John the Baptist was a contemporary of Christ who was known for evangelization and his baptising of Jesus Christ in the river Jordan, spending time in the desert in reflection and for boldly speaking out about the lifestyles of the time. This evangelisation eventually led to an order by King Herod for his death by beheading.

Fortunately in our stance to follow in the footsteps of St John the Baptist, we don’t have to face that same fate!

Today, our celebrations of St John the Baptist commenced with a whole school Liturgy in the Church. Later, a sausage sizzle lunch was provided which was followed by multi-aged activities in the classrooms for which parents were invited to join thier children.

Our School Logo features a hand tipping water from a shell representing Baptism.  The three white lillies are symbolic of purity, innocence, and new beginnings all of which also correspond with the sacrament of Baptism. The latin wording is translated as ‘Prepare the way of the Lord’ for which St John the Baptist was reknowned.

Now the time to donate please.

If you have any spare warm clothing or blankets send them in or drop them off at school. Non perishable everyday food items and toiletries would also be appreciated.

In STEM classes our students have been working on designing and creating a variety of set tasks including footwear for the seniors, glasses, musical instruments and objects that hang from and slide along a wire for students in other levels, all in preparation for a  Design & Technology Week display.

The enthusiasm has been wonderful and the results speak for themselves with students hovering around the display in the Library Building open area with a lot of excited chatter.

Thanks to Mrs Taylor for encouraging such creativity.
