The first phase of new building and refurbishment project is almost complete. These new facilities, highly anticipated by all, include four large classrooms, open leaning spaces, a library, office spaces and an indoor toilet block.

We trust these rooms will be in use shortly and following this, the removal of the temporary classrooms and toilets, will allow for the final outdoor part of the project to commence, the construction and landscaping of the outdoor learning spaces and the development of a school entrance highlighting our faith and cultural connectivity.

We are grateful for the patience and flexibility shown by families, staff and students who have faced the challenges and inconveniences to parking, play areas and work spaces, during past months.

The whole school community will benefit in many ways and the pride in our school will grow even further.

We trust you have had a restful and refreshing holiday period because we are welcoming back the school community to what is going to be a very busy Term 2.  Commencing with Grade 3/4 camp to Sovereign Hill this week, the coming weeks include Footy Clinic for the juniors, House and District Cross Country events, Mother’s Day breakfast, First Eucharist preparations and Sacrament, Naplan assessments, swimming lessons, our school disco, St John the Baptist Feast Day and many other day to day events.

Please note our scheduled School Closure Day – Monday 9th May and the Queens Birthday public holiday Mon 13th June.

It was wonderful to have parents, grandparents and parishioners join us for our Stations of the Cross Liturgy at the end of Term. Although the wind was strong, our students provided us with a respectful and moving dramatisation of Jesus’ challenges during the last week of his earthly existence, from Palm Sunday through to the Resurrection,  known as Holy Week.

We trust this gave everyone a greater understanding of why Easter is celebrated and is the highpoint of the Catholic Liturgical Calendar.

Following the Stations of the Cross, the Grade 1/2H students shared their reflections through artworks.

The Easter season continues with us starting Term 2 in the 2nd Week of Easter.

We are so proud of the manner in which our senior students have commenced the year, settling into the classrooms, supporting their Foundation Buddies and especially those who showed the responsibility and resilience in applying for formal roles of leadership within our school community.

We congratulate Zofia Town and Rithul Timothy on being elected as School Captains for 2022.

Welcome to all our families especially those who have joined our school community for the first time.

We also welcome new staff members, Miss Raelee Browning in the Grade 1/2 area and Mrs Megan Briganti in the Library, together with Mrs Sarah Manelski in Grade 3/4 area, who returns from leave.

We extend a warm welcome to Fr Avinash George who has joined our Parish and school community. Fr Avinash has spent the last couple of years in Bairnsdale Parish and we look forward to getting to know him and celebrating Masses and with him throughout the year.

We encourage and support our Grade 6 students who will be contending for various school leadership positions during the coming weeks.  We are proud of all those who accept the challenge of leadership in our school whether through designated roles or simply through their behaviour and interactions with others.
